Amanda Brugel
Pointe Claire (February 27, 2010 (February 27, 2010) Toronto ON). Pointe Claire is a quiet community located in the West Island, which is an island in Montreal. The West Island has a lot of diverse communities. People who have never known about it may think it is a separate island facing west. Amanda Brugel is said to have been born on West Island. But it's not the case. Brugel was raised in Courtice close to Oshawa in Ontario. She initially wanted to pursue a career as an actress However, following a dramatic growth spurt her partners were no longer able to dance along with her. In a recent interview with the Toronto Star, she confessed that "In heels I'm 6 feet and 1 inch." Once I outgrew male partners and gave up, I decided to give up. The Brugel is one of the former dancers that turned to acting. Her high school teacher school was the one who pushed her into the right direction. She was a teacher at the time who advised her to go after a role in the school's annual production. The student tried it out, and eventually got the lead of Anne of Green Gables. It led to her receiving a Fine Arts Talent Scholarship from York University. In 2000 she graduated with a BA in Fine Arts at York University. The career of Brugel spans more than 20 years and she's appeared in 60 different productions, both on big screens and smaller ones. Her most recognizable role was as Rita (pictured below) on The Handmaid's Tale. Brugel was only seen on a few occasions in the first season of the show The Handmaid's Tale. She was the only Canadian participant.
