Miley Ray Cyrus was born Destiny Hope Cyrus on November 23, 1992, in Franklin, Tennessee and raised in Thompson's Station, Tennessee to Tish Cyrus & Billy Ray Cyrus. Miley has five brothers as well as sisters, two of whom are older and a younger sibling. The parents of Miley named her hoping that she would be successful. Her nickname from childhood, Smiley, due to her cheerful disposition, was eventually shortened to Miley. Ron Cyrus is her Democratic politician grandfather. Cyrus began her education through Heritage Elementary School located in Tennessee. At the age of eight the family relocated to Toronto, Canada, where Cyrus' dad Billy Ray took a role in the TV series Doc (2001). Cyrus began acting during that time. Her father played her in Doc (2001). She also starred in one small part in Tim Burton's Big Fish. Cyrus appeared in Hannah Montana (2006) (a Disney show about a teenage woman with a dual life as a performer) as the main character. The actress was joined by her father again. The show was later to be an enormous success. Record sales, tour dates that sold out and contracts for merchandise were also signed. Cyrus became famous as an early teen. Following the popularity in Hannah Montana 2006, Cyrus began to play other characters. Cyrus played Ronnie Miller and Lola alongside Demi Moore in The Last Song 2010 and LOL 2012.
